UOB, together with the industry, is offering an extension of support measures via the Extended Support Scheme (ESS), aimed at helping those facing cash flow difficulties transition gradually to full loan repayments. Applications for ESS for property loans are now open. Deposit the cheque at their respective bank's Cheque Deposit Box; 2. Visit one of the 16 Community Centres where there will be UOB staff and volunteers from Singapore Pools on-site to help with the encashment of Solidarity Payment cheques; or 3. Visit one of UOB's 32 branches offering encashment services for Solidarity Payment cheques.
But, how to bank in cheque?
I always forget what to write on the reverse side of the cheque every time I want to drop cheque.
With this article on hand, it will be easy to bank-in cheque to your bank account quickly.
Check the Bank Cheque Issued
First thing first: Check the following details are filled in correctly:
- Double cross at the top left-hand corner of the cheque (means: cheque not meant to be encashed)
- Cross out the word 'BEARER' (means: it's meant for an intended party stated on the 'Pay' line)
- Your full name as per bank record on the 'Pay' line
- 'Date' boxes are filled up (cannot be a future date)
- The amount in words and figures tally
- 'Signature line' is signed
- Any amendments are counter-signed

After you have checked the cheque details and filled in your own bank details,

- Drop cheque at the Quick Cheque Deposit Box (QCD). These collection boxes are available at the banks' branches in Singapore.
- POSB/DBS also have Quick Cheque Deposit Machine (QCM) for their customers

While we welcome customers to our branches as part of Phase Three of Singapore's reopening, we still encourage visits only for essential banking services that cannot be conducted through our digital services, phone banking or self-service banking machines.
If you must visit us for your essential banking needs, please note we continue to maintain enhanced precautionary measures to ensure a safe environment for those inside the branch.
Our enhanced precautionary measures include:
- Requiring all customers to check in using SafeEntry[1] through the TraceTogether mobile app or token to facilitate contact tracing.
- Temperature screening for all individuals entering our buildings and branches.
- Declining entry to anyone who:
- Is not wearing a mask;
- Has a temperature of 37.5°C and above;
- is on a Quarantine or Isolation Order, Stay Home Notice or medical leave for respiratory symptoms; or
- has been in close contact with any person who has been quarantined as a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
- Ensuring that our branch colleagues wear face masks and use hand sanitisers. Please be assured that our colleagues will not come to work if they are unwell.
- Applying safe distancing measures which include reducing the number of customers within a branch at any point in time and ensuring one metre spacing between customers when in the branch. Our Safe Distancing Ambassadors will be around to guide you as necessary.
- Increasing the frequency of cleaning at our branches, buildings and ATMs.
- Applying a commercial grade self-disinfecting coating that kills germs and bacteria at high-touch areas including branch counters, meeting areas and ATMs.
We continue to dedicate the first hour of banking operations to serving the elderly and customers who have disabilities or who are pregnant.
Financial and wealth management advisory services continue to be on an appointment basis only.
